Video Game Gift Ideas for 2013

Towards the end of each year there is always a rush for video game manufacturer’s to get their games released in time for Christmas. In this post we’ll review the 10 hottest new release games for December 2013 including picks from all major genres.

FPS Video Game Release Frenzy:

At the end of 2013 we’re getting series releases for all of the most popular first person shooters including Call of Duty, Battlefield, Gears of War, and Halo. It’s an FPS gamers dream! The biggest problem is knowing which to play.

Best New Video Games – December 2013

1.) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Critics of the most popular series of FPS (first-person-shooter) ever say that it’s more of the same but that hasn’t stopped the flow of game orders that make it impossible to put this game anywhere but number one on our list. New features include a new 2-player co-op option, new play modes, weapons and more.

2.) Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Best New RPG of 2013

We’ve officially named Skyrim the best new role playing game of 2013. The story is consuming, you have nearly unlimited character options to choose from, and it never gets boring. What more could you want in an RPG?

3.) Just Dance 3

New music and game modes for more dancing fun.

4.) Batman Arkham City

In this game you’ll become the dark knight as you handle nail-biting action, use new gadgets, and meet all of Batman’s nemeses.

5.) Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 offers a FPS multi-player experience like no other on PC. Play various maps with up to 64 players. The 4 classes are more deep than ever as you level up weapons and various vehicles. Like BFBC2 the environment is destructive which adds to the realism. If you haven’t played it, then you should.

6.) Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

7.) New Super Mario Bros. Wii

No, this is not a new game, but it’s still so popular it remains on the bestseller’s list. My 6 year old can’t stop playing it since we bought it for him nearly a year ago and I’m right there beside him. If you’ve already played it, then try Super Mario Galaxy 2.

8.) Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary

New features, achievements, and even more fun. You know what you’re getting with Halo – a great story line, fast action combat, and vehicles. Halo 4 comes out just after Christmas so it may be worth it to pre-order that game rather than ordering the Anniversary version.

9.) Gears of War 3

10.) Super Mario 3D Land

A little controversy from Mario’s tail didn’t do anything to stop Super Mario 3D land and it’s the must buy 3DS game of 2011. Nintendo did a good job with 3D land by leaving all of the things in that you love about Mario and then adding to it. Mario can perform a rolling somersault attack or run fast with a dash move. Or, as Tanooki Mario, he can use his tail to hover, perform floating jumps or attacks.

That’s our list of the best new video games for 2013. If you didn’t find what you were looking for I also highly recommend our review of the latest video games from November 2013.

Interesting Electronic and Technology Gift ideas for 2013

Whether you’re shopping for a technology geek or gadget lover one thing is for sure, they want something new. In this post I’ll review the top 10 best new electronics for December 2013. I came up with this list by looking at the bestseller’s lists for new product categories from multiple manufacturer websites.

2013 – The Year of the Tablet

In the past we’ve seen iPhones, E-book Readers, and notebooks take the lead for sales but this year is all about the tablet. It seems that just about every company has come up with one this year to try and capture some of Apple’s market share that it has with the iPad 2. Part of the incentive behind this is that when consumer’s purchase a tablet they also buy songs, movies, books, and everything else you can think of through the manufacturer’s store. The market share is so important that Amazon has begun to sell its own Kindle fire at a loss.

10 Best Electronic Gifts for 2013

One by one here’s our list of electronic gift ideas for December 2013. If you don’t find what you’re looking here, then I highly recommend that you check out our list of the 25 most wished for electronic gifts which was made in early November 2013 and includes a comparison section for all categories.

1.) Kindle Fire

Still on the top of the list since November is the Kindle Fire. While there are certainly a few advantages to owning the iPad 2, a longer battery life (10 hours vs. 7.5) and larger screen (9.75 inches vs. 7 inches),  the Kindle Fire costs 40% less, has the same processor, is more portable, and Amazon purchased content is also more universally compatible once it’s been purchased. The new Kindle is definitely not just an E-book reader.

2.) Roku 2XS 1080p Streaming Player

The Roku 2XS gives you 1080p streaming access to over 300 channels with movies, music and more. It’s simple to setup and easy-to-use as it works with any TV. I also highly recommend the Roku LT which is about half the price of the 2XS. While it only streams in 720p many programming options are only available in this resolution anyway.

3.) Garmin Forerunner 405CX GPS Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor

The 405CX makes it easy to record your time, distance, pace, calories burned and heart rate. Ideal for runners trying to improve or maintain their times.

4.) Panasonic HDC-TM90K 3D Compatible Camcorder

If you want to record in 3D, then you’ll need the VW-CLT1 3D camcorder lens. That being said the HDC-TM90K is great on its own recording in 1080/60p.

5.) Canon PowerShot SX230HS

The SX230HS is 2011’s best compact digital camera under $200. It’s features include Canon’s HS SYSTEM with a 12.1 MP CMOS and DIGIC 4 Image Processor improves shooting in low-light situations without need for a flash.

6.) Panasonic DMP-BDT210 Integrated-Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray DVD Player

Electronics are getting smarter every day and the DMP-BDT210 shows just how far we’ve come. It can handle skype video calls, has built-in Wi-fi, a Touch-Free Sensor, 3D effect controller, and can answer your phone calls with a voice message.

7.) Canon EOS Rebel T3i

The EOS Rebel T3i is a great DSLR for entry to mid-level photographers looking to get a start. The large ISO range makes it ideal for low-light situations and you can also record in Full HD 1080p. If it’s out of your price range, then take a look at the Rebel T3.

8.) Samsung UN55D8000

Samsung hit the nail right on the head with the UN55D8000. It has all the latest Smart TV technology including Samsung Apps, Skype, Wi-fi and more, and the small and clear bezel makes it look like a frame less picture on the wall.

9.) Nintendo 3DS Handheld Game System

This is way beyond anything I had as a kid. The 3DS takes portable gaming systems to a new level allowing you to play in 3D or 2D. 2D mode is perfect for when you’ve been playing for too long and your eyes need a break.

10.) Garmin nüvi 2350LMT

This is the latest new model in Garmin’s line of industry-leading GPS systems. Comes with lifetime traffic and map updates.

Sometimes going back to the stone age can be more cool than the latest technology. No batteries or chargers needed and 100% waterproof, this pendant ring modeled after the set used by Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, has not only a romantic sentiment, but is also great for the individual who loves to show off their knowledge of random facts and know how.

Like the ability to use and read a sundial, for example. The inscription on the inside reads “carpe diem” or translated, “size the day” and the ring comes with instructions booklet for use. Get a set for yourself and your lover to know you will always be on the same clock.
